Excellent Feed Ingredients and Fertilizers From the Sea
Sustainable Marine Resource
Fresh cuttings from seafood originally harvested and processed for human consumption comprise the sole source of raw material used in our products. We do not utilize fish caught for reduction purposes! The wild populations of fish and shellfish that support our commercial fisheries are actively managed by state and federal agencies as sustainable natural resources. Most of these populations, as well as our facilities, are certified as sustainable by the Marine Stewardship Council. We are committed to worldwide marine management that accepts and implements the responsibility for protection, utilization and sustainability of our vulnerable ocean resources.
We benefit from vertical integration within our parent company, Pacific Seafood. Our products are traceable with documentation showing source and processing of raw material utilized in production and final product formulation. We have access to electronic tracking of fish and shellfish catch; landings and processing; and the subsequent conversion of rest raw materials to pet food, aquaculture and animal feed ingredients, and organic fertilizers.
We have developed a unique de-boning process enabling us to significantly concentrate protein and reduce ash in all of our fish meals and protein concentrates. For nutritionists, this means an increase in feed formulation space making it easier to add essential nutrients for optimum growth and health, and utilize functional feed ingredients to provide multiple benefits including enhanced nutrient absorption, or nutraceuticals as integral components of therapeutic diets. For production managers, protein concentration and ash reduction means improved efficiency and lower costs for ingredient shipping, handling and storage.
Fresh Raw Material
From our marine vessels to our processing facilities and rest raw material conversion plants, we ensure all fresh raw materials are kept at specific temperatures and processed at specific times to provide customers final products with consistent, desirable quality, and comply with state and federal regulations. They are chilled but never frozen!
Our raw materials are derived from wild resources. They are naturally free from harmful pesticides, synthetic hormones, antibiotics, and genetically modified organisms (GMOs). Wild fish and shellfish consume a variety of natural foods in their habitats, which creates a broad range of nutrients in our final products.
Marine fish and shellfish are excellent sources of highly digestible proteins, minerals, and healthful oils. In fact, our oceans are a nearly exclusive source of the critical omega-3 fatty acids, eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). In humans, these nutrients promote nervous system development, optimal memory function, and play a major role in reducing the risk of heart disease. In cats and dogs, EPA and DHA help reduce inflammation and protect against abnormal heart rhythms. When fed to aquaculture fish and farmed animals, they provide meat, eggs and milk rich in EPA and DHA for consumer’s optimal health and well-being.
While the oceans have provided nourishment and therapy for ages, much of marine resources remain untapped. Bioactive peptides, enzymes and a whole gamut of treasures possessing novel properties are yet to be fully understood and utilized. Pacific Seafood Group is actively participating in studies aiming to fight malnutrition and diseases using sustainable marine resources.
Our sustainable fish meal and fish soluble ingredients are derived from fresh cuttings of Pacific whiting (Merluccius productus) and other groundfish species originally harvested and processed for human consumption. From novel high-protein, low-ash fish meals and protein concentrates to species-specific, commodity meals and solubles, select a protein ingredient that best meets your formulation requirements. Fish meals noted as MSC are individually certified as sustainable by the Marine Stewardship Council.
Our shellfish meals are derived from wild Dungeness crab (Metacarcinus magister) and Pacific pink shrimp (Pandalus jordani). They are suitable for use as natural palatants in pet food and pet treats, as natural organic fertilizers in crop production, and as animal and aquaculture feed ingredients that supply supplemental levels of organic minerals and protein.
As a natural organic fertilizer, our fish bone meal provides significant amounts of slow-release nitrogen, calcium and phosphorus, along with a complete array of secondary soil nutrients. In pet food and animal feeds, this ingredient is a source of highly digestible fish protein and organic minerals, and is ideal for validating flavor and natural claims.
Primary sources of our raw material are commercial fisheries targeting Pacific whiting (Merluccius productus) and other groundfish species that conform to sustainability standards. Our oils provide dietary energy and supply critical omega-3 docosahexaenoic (DHA) and eicosapentaenoic (EPA) fatty acids.
